IRS 990 - Schedule H

The IRS recently unveiled its updated Form 990 for tax-exempt organizations, with a new schedule designed specifically for hospitals. While the IRS is phasing in Schedule H for the 2008 tax year, the entire schedule will be mandatory in the 2009 tax year.  More than ever, hospitals must automate their charity care program enrollment and reporting processes in order to comply with increasing government monitoring.

Objective Charity Screening
Hospitals need to demonstrate that their screening process identifies any patient who would qualify for charity care under their specific guidelines. By automating the screening process using technology, the process is truly objective and thus passes the IRS’ scrutiny.

Aided by SearchAmerica’s Payment Advisor Suite, registrars and financial counselors can quickly and accurately determine whether or not an individual qualifies for their unique charity/uninsured discount program based on their income, household size and asset information.

Predictive Reporting
Using SearchAmerica’s Predictive Intelligence Dashboard solution, organizations have immediate access to reports that enable them to monitor and measure their automated charity enrollment program and other aspects of their business.
