Red Flags Rule and Address Discrepancy Rule Compliance

SearchAmerica, A part of Experian Rapid Compliance with FTC Red Flags Rule

Healthcare financial professionals are looking for help to better understand and comply with the Red Flags and Address Discrepancy Rule from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). The Rule was issued to curb identity theft in the United States, and require companies, including most hospitals, to submit their written program to identify and manage ‘red flag’ accounts by June 1, 2010.

The core elements of the Red Flags Rule are identification, detection, and response to patterns, practices, or specific activities – known as “red flags". These are areas that SearchAmerica has helped more than 500 hospitals address over the years by providing:

·       Identification/Detection: Inconsistencies of addresses constitute a ‘red flag’ to the registrar and organization. With SearchAmerica's, unbiased verification of every patient’s demographic information (address, age, social security number, etc.) a search can be performed within seconds during registration by our trusted Address Checker or Payment Advisor Suite services. Inconsistencies can constitute a ‘red flag’ to the registrar and organization.

·       Response: When a ‘red flag’ is found, predetermined workflows within SearchAmerica service guide the registration process and financial relationship with patients, including those identified as a red flag patient, using validated patient information.
